Ad Writing Tips
The following tips are designed
to help you write an effective Classified
or Display Ad.
Identify the key characteristics you are seeking in a new
hire.
|
Job Title
Begin your ad with either the
exact title or general skills area of the position you
are advertising. Job seekers tend to skim ads looking for specific
titles or fields
of interest.
|
Job Description
Describe the job by listing skills
and/or experience that are required for a person to be a viable
candidate for the job. The more information you provide, the
easier it is for a reader to determine if he or she is qualified
to apply for the position. |
Keywords
Include keywords that will entice
the reader to respond. Use words or phrases
to help explain why the position is a good employment opportunity
in terms of
benefits, earnings or opportunities.
|
Avoid Abbreviations
Make your ad as easy to understand
as possible. Too many abbreviations confuse the reader. The
editors of The Employment World will abbreviate when
appropriate.
